Biography

Kris Allan  ARPS

Born in 1964, He is a professional photographer based in SE England.

Kris' style has been described as 'documentary with an arty edge', and has won him several awards. He has exhibited at the ICA, The Photographers Gallery, Grand Central Terminal in New York, The Science Museum, the Dutch Institute of Photography in Rotterdam, local venues and two years around London with the Cuba collection. His work has featured in many periodicals, including The Sunday Times, The Independent, The Guardian, The Observer, Harpers & Queen and various photography books.

He has worked in conjunction with the prestigious, KATZ/IPG agency.

Winner of the Dennis Morris Award - BBC London Live Photographic Competition. Runner-up Independent on Sunday / First Direct National Black & White Photographic Competition.

Kris's first major project was working with a team documenting life behind bars at London's Wandsworth prison between 1994-1996. The culmination of this was the publication, in Nov '97, of a book entitled 'Inside Eye'. Numerous subjects for later projects have ranged from the drinking of hallucinogencic 'tea' in Brazil, through 'living a positive life with schizophrenia', to life around an English foxhunt during the time of the government ban.

Finalist Wanderlust Photo of the Year Competition, & is included in their book. Winner MILK International Photographic Competition.
